Project Brief
Building started in early May. This was a challenging job from the outset due to the confinements of major construction within a working school environment.
Stage 1 involved demolishing 3 classrooms, admin area and the dental nurse’s station. Construction involved 4 classrooms, shared areas and an admin area. There were some complications not to mention one of the wettest winters on record at the time of pouring the floors. The design of the buildings incorporated concrete panels Titan Facade panel and ST7 metal cladding, in vibrant colours creating a stimulating environment.
Stage 2 Mainzeal built two senior classrooms and a large shared area. All classrooms were fitted with projectors and high quality sound. The walls were lined with autex a fantastic bright new pin board for displaying children’s works of art! The ceilings were lined with whitewashed ply and acoustic tiles making the rooms sound efficient. Heat pumps were installed in all classrooms (in the process removing the old coal burner).

Stage 3 incorporated a new library and 2 classrooms. The floor slab for stage 2 & 3 was the existing floor slab poured many years ago without a lot of accuracy. This was challenging in itself and Mainzeal was required to adjust the top plate. We received a clear floor slab for the start of Stage 3 on 8 Jan and had until the return of school on 2nd Feb to complete 2 classrooms. It was very satisfying for the Mainzeal team involved to have achieved this.
Throughout the entire project the design team and Mainzeal worked closely ensuring the clients expectations were not only met but exceeded. The result was a fantastic new learning environment for the pupils and a great workplace for the teachers.
