Project Brief

Somerset House, in the Ashburton town centre replaces the former Somerset Hotel. At four storeys high, it is the tallest building in the town.The dynamic facade features a mix of cladding materials.

The tower and main entrance are clad in a manufactured stone product made in Timaru, while the majority of the building features STO-Armat plastered cement board. Louvre sunshades and aluminium handrails frame generously sized balconies on three sides of the building. Recessed windows reinforce the industrial look.The building will ultimately house 14 office and retail businesses.
