The first phase of work in the school wing required the roof to be retiled, the external elevations and windows repaired and the walls painted. Internally, demolition was carried out and a new mezzanine floor installed in the old chapel together with seismic strengthening and new fire protection system, in order to create new teaching and staff areas. New stairs and passenger lift were installed. The whole space was refitted from the original shell, including wall finishes, heating, wiring, lighting, data and decoration.
The second phase of work in the convent was of a similar nature. About half of the rooms remained structurally unaltered but new sprinklers, nurse call and wiring was installed. External and internal decoration and finishes were applied.
The third phase involved the internal alteration and upgrade of Mitchelson House, an historic building. This involved installing new fire alarms throughout, altering room layouts, plumbing changes, floor finishes and final decoration.
The works were carried out in an operational school with minimal disruption to the Baradene College activities and agreed handover dates were all met.
