Project Brief

Mainzeal has completed a number of projects for Auckland District Health Board. The most recent is a new Home Dialysis Unit at Greenlane Clinical Centre which was officially opened in October by Deputy Minister of Health, the Hon. Dr. Jonathan Coleman.
Aucklanders living with or facing kidney disease are now able to undertake dialysis education in a more comfortable and homely environment. The new unit brings together patients who require both Peritoneal and Haemodialysis training and on-going support. Bringing these services together will lead to patients having more convenient access to a number of kidney related services. The unit also provides space for pre-dialysis nurse specialists to work from and a space for social workers and dieticians to liaise with their patients.
The new Dialysis Unit is a single level timber framed building. It is clad in cedar weatherboard with a Coloursteel roof. The building design features three adjoining pods with diverging pitched roofs. The exterior utilises a Titan cavity system which is pre-sealed on all sides ensuring complete weathertightness. The fully accessible facility includes reception and waiting space, the dialysis rooms, nurse stations and support facilities, along with new clinical and training areas and general office space.
The construction methodology needed to be fast-tracked to meet the tight programme so the building was divided into separate work zones which allowed multiple areas to be worked on at the same time.
The new Greenlane Dialysis Unit was completed on time and within budget. Mainzeal remains on site at Greenlane Hospital where we are constructing the hospital’s new Ophthalmology Clinic.
