Project Brief
Mainzeal worked closely with architectural firm Andrews Scott Cotton and McDonald’s to review, design and assist in the value engineering process, and to provide cost and programme certainty prior to commencing work on site.
The programme was particularly challenging, requiring Mainzeal and its subcontractors to work seven days a week for the duration of the contract. This commitment ensured that McDonald’s head-office staff were able to relocate as programmed.
Mainzeal also managed and co-ordinated works to meet noise restrictions, which were put in place due to tenant occupancy of Level 2.

The fit-out reinforces the dynamic look of the chain’s restaurants, with bold colours and graphics enlivening the interior. The interior incorporates several curved walls and glass panels, which involved complex design and co-ordination by Mainzeal Interiors.
The staff chill-out area was a main focus of the fit-out. Frameless glass doors provide an operable wall, and large stacking glass doors enhance the indoor-outdoor flow.
Mainzeal has also worked alongside McDonald's to complete restaurants in Lower Hutt (1977), Coastlands (1991), the McDonald's Test Kitchen (2002) and McDonald's 5 Cross Roads (2003).
