At the recent 2009 NZIOB Awards for Excellence in the Building Professions several Mainzeal employees received outstanding recognition from their industry peers and notable Construction Industry entities in the following Awards for Excellence.
Ross Copland was awarded the prestigious Progressive Building ‘2009 Young Achiever of the Year Award’. Ross as our National Sustainability Manager is fast becoming an Industry recognized champion of Sustainability. With this latest award to his credit; Ross also leads the way for Mainzeal to becoming a leading industry entity and champion of Sustainability initiatives within the New Zealand Construction sector.
Susan Temple also achieved a Highly Commended Award in The Progressive Building 2009 Young Achiever Award. Susan as our Central Region Engineer has worked on several complex renovation projects providing creative and innovative solutions to many complex problems. Susan’s enthusiasm for temporary design solutions and alternative construction methodologies has established her to being a very valuable member of the Central Region Mainzeal Team and to become recognized by both consultants and clients as a valuable asset.
John Pengelly also received a Highly Commended Award in the Davis Langdon over $50 Million Projects as the Project Manager on the Vogel Centre Stage 1A project Wellington. John as a Project Manager from our Central Region was totally accountable for the construction of a new seven-level podium building joined by a five-storey atrium to the existing 14 storey Vogel Building. This combined with 4-star rating being introduced part way through the build process put exceptional demands on both John and his project team to lead and deliver the project on time, to exacting and exceptional quality standards.
Scooping another Award, Ross Copland did it again and was awarded the The James Hardie Innovation Award for introducing recycled ground up glass into the concrete used at the Lion Breweries new Brewery Facility at East Tamaki Auckland. Ross worked very closely with Beca, Holcim and Lion Breweries to develop an innovative solution to mix ground up recycled glass into the concrete for the Lion Brewery Ltd's new Brewery Complex, and has proved to be an outstanding success for all parties paving the way for other projects to follow on from.
